Elements and Performance Criteria

1. Research the human form
   • Research information and ideas from oral, written and visual sources about the representation and use of the human form in creative practice
   • Investigate aspects of human physiology and anatomy relevant to own practice
   • Analyse and extract relevant ideas and information from research
   • Consider intellectual property and other legislative requirements relevant to research and development of ideas
   • Develop and refine informed ideas about the use of the human form in creative work
2. Visually represent the human form
   • Adapt ideas and knowledge about the human form for integration into abody of work
   • Experiment with different media and techniques to represent different aspects of the human form or reflect ideas about the human form
   • Identify and resolve technical problems based on developing expertise
   • Trial and adapt ways to represent or use the human form to develop own style
3. Evaluate own work
   • Evaluate development of own workwith others and seek feedback
   • Reflect on the particular ways that experimentation with the human form has informed own practice
   • Identify ways in which technique may be further developed as part of professional practice and build ideas into future work

Performance Evidence

Evidence of the ability to:

research the representation of the human form in historical and contemporary contexts

develop, refine and implement ideas about the use of the human form for application to own work

produce a complete body of creative work that shows ability to work effectively with the human form

use feedback and reflection to assess success of completed work and identify further creative opportunities.

Note: If a specific volume or frequency is not stated, then evidence must be provided at least once.

Knowledge Evidence

To complete the unit requirements safely and effectively, the individual must:

list and describe sources of information and ideas relevant to own practice

outline commonly used research methodologies for creative practitioners

describe in detail techniques used to represent or reflect the human form relevant to own area of practice

explain the aspects of human physiology and anatomy that are relevant to own work

outline the requirements of intellectual property and other legislation associated with arts practice.
